Brainspotting Consultation and Certification
The consultation process is intended to support BSP practitioners to embody the BSP theory and practice. Generally, meetings are scheduled monthly for one-hour ($130/hour). BSP consultation is for the purpose of discussing the use of BSP theory and practice, and does not constitute clinical supervision, unless it is occurring in the context of a supervisory relationship. BSP consultees retain all ethical and legal responsibility for their practice of BSP.
Consultation is available on an as needed basis or for the purpose of Brainspotting Certification.

Requirements for becoming a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner:
- Completion of Brainspotting Phase 1 and 2 trainings in person or online
- A minimum of six hours of consultation from a Brainspotting Consultant or CIT. The last hour to include a formal review of the applicants BSP skills using the Brainspotting Consultant’s report. No more than two of the consultation hours should be done before completing Phase 2.
- Fifty documented hours of using BSP (use Session Tracking Form-use one form per client)
- Submission of Application for Certification (see below) and payment of $150 fee to Brainspotting Trainings, LLC.
- Certification must be renewed every two years and requires one-hour consultation with a Consultant and 100 documented hours of using BSP.

Brainspotting Consultant-in-Training (CIT) Program
Brainspotting Consultants are ambassadors of Brainspotting as demonstrated by their commitment to Brainspotting principles and culture. This is seen through their engagement in Brainspotting community, their spirit of growing Brainspotting and embodiment of the anti-oppression/anti-racism principles of Brainspotting. Consultants are expected to participate in ongoing Brainspotting training, personal Brainspotting sessions, and strive to continually develop their self-awareness. Consultants are also expected to be organized, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be open-minded and seek to be supportive rather than competitive.
Each CIT trainer brings their unique perspective to the CIT process. This training process includes 3 main stages: 1) Solidifying BSP Knowledge and understanding the process of consultation, 2) Embodiment of BSP principles/Person of the Brainspotting Consultant, 3) Consultation of BSP Consultation. In the first stage, we will review Phase 1 and 2 material, including reviewing and analyzing recorded BSP sessions, and discuss the required elements of the BSP consultation process. In the second stage, we will focus on how you are embodying the principles of BSP, beyond your BSP sessions, and developing your style of BSP Consultation. Finally, in the third stage, you will begin the consultation of consultation process with 1-2 consultees.
Eligibility to become a Brainspotting Consultant-in-Training (CIT):
1.) Has been a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner for a minimum of one year.
2.) Has attended the most recently developed trainings: Phase 1 and Phase 2
3.) Has attending at least two of the following 4 trainings: Phase 3, Phase 4, Master Class, Intensive (in-person or virtual)
4.) Possesses the characteristics of an Approved Brainspotting Consultant and Affirms Brainspotting Culture as noted above.
5.) Engages in Activities that promote Brainspotting.
6.) Demonstrates involvement in Brainspotting Community.
Costs associated with the training process: $1750 for the training, $250 for purchasing Phase 1 and 2 videos (if you do not already have them), $50 for the Application for Approval as a Brainspotting Consultant at completion of the training, additional costs for recommended reading material (optional). Payments plans are available. Understanding that unforeseen circumstance may arise that impede your completion of the CIT process, the training fee will be prorated. Costs for videos and other materials are non-refundable.
