Twinflower Psychological Services, llc was established in 2010 and is the private practice of Linnea Swanson, PsyD., M.A., LMFT. Twinflower is a common name for the Linnaea borealis plant that was first named by the Swedish botanist, Carl Linnaeus. Linnea’s mother, a native of S. Korea, chose the name Linnea from a book of Swedish names to represent Linnea’s Swedish heritage. Linnea’s Korean/Swedish American heritage has strongly influenced her dedication to practicing from an affirmative, inclusive and socially conscious stance in her teaching, supervision, and psychotherapy.
Linnea identifies as a Korean/ Swedish American, cis-gender, heterosexual female. She is currently married and has a blended family with three amazing daughters. She was born and raised in Minnesota. Linnea completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Child Development at the University of Minnesota, a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling (Marriage and Family Therapy focus) and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at Argosy University/Twin Cities.
Linnea is a licensed marriage family therapist (MN #1190, NY#01933, MI#4101007257), MFT/LPC/LPCC MN State and AAMFT approved supervisor, a Brainspotting Trainer, Consultant and Practitioner, and an educator. She has been in clinical practice for over 20 years, working in school-based mental health, community mental health, and private practice. Linnea has also been faculty in Master’s and Doctorate programs for marriage and family therapy; Linnea is currently adjunct faculty in Marriage and Family Therapy program at St. Mary's University of Minnesota.
